oss retail: academy.
Formally known as Oxford Summer School, now operating as BRC Leaders Summer School.
OSS Retail Academy was an intensive residential programme at Keble College, Oxford University, designed to challenge and develop leading managers across the international retail industry. Formerly the Oxford Summer School and now powered by the BRC, it is still recognised as one of the industry’s top external development courses.
I joined the Academy Director team in 2018, coaching delegates and supporting course delivery, invited by Chairman Terry Lees. The programme covers psychometric development, commercial planning, financial management, branding and marketing, and omnichannel business strategy, culminating in a City & Guilds Retail Management qualification.
In 2020 and 2021, I focused on developing and writing content for Commercial Planning & Trading and Financial Management sectors of the course, tailoring material and teaching techniques for retail professionals to enhance learning for future delegates.

After completing several training courses in 2018, including OSS Retail Academy, I identified a gap in development opportunities at DCK Group and created the Emerging Leaders Academy. Working with the Board and L&D manager, I developed the content and structure over six months, launching the programme in 2019.
The year-long course delivers culture and behaviour-focused coaching to support personal growth, career development, and DCK’s business strategy. It targets employees recognised for championing company values and aspiring to management roles. Many of the course structures and training guides I created remain in use today.
